MarHaba!!!!(hello in arabic)
This WEEKEND....does it have to be over?? haha. This weekend we had the privelege to spend this time with our "national" friends in a small village in the mountains of Lebanon! This was a retreat for them where they would do there planning for the year, but they asked us to go along to be able to spend some time with them. It was a very relaxing time & we were able to get to know them more. These friends have meant the world to us since we arrived in Beirut. They are definitely our "family" here! One of my favorite things about this weekend is that we spent alot of time on the balcony that has a beautiful view of all the surrounding mountains. We had all of our meals on the balcony, played games, and laughed alot! I love to laugh, so I really appreciate the humor that this group has. This was a very sweet time and we had some great "conversations." While our friends were planning, Brandon, Marcus, & I spent time studying arabic! We are definitely progressing, but it will only be a matter of time. We try to use the words we know as much as possible. The weather in the mountains is very nice right now. It was cool, so we were definitely excited about getting away from the humidity for a couple of days! Also, the villages of Lebanon are very different than Beirut because Beirut is a big city. The village was very quiet and we enjoyed the nature. I enjoyed the night time--because the sky was sooo much bigger. I love to look at the moon & stars, so it was nice to see the sky outside of the city! I am excited about this upcoming week, but I need sleep first...haha. So I will be giving you updates again soon : ) Pictures from the mountains will also be coming soon! Shukran (thank you) for reading about my time here...XOXO
Love,
Tiffany
