Look who's dancing like a bird now....

TODAY......when it rains, it pours!!!

This morning when I woke up, it was raining and thundering. As I was walking to campus, it started raining more and more. I had to walk slow because the sidewalks & streets were really wet and I was wearing flip flops : / When I got half way to campus, the flood gates opened and it was pouring down! I had to stop walking and stand under a cafe's umbrella. I stood there about 30mins because the rain was pouring constantly. I started "thinking" and decided that I was not going to allow this to stop me from meeting people. When the rain let up some, I started walking from one dry spot to the next(basically from umbrella to umbrella). By this point, everything was VERY slippery and the roads looked like rivers! Beirut is a pretty hilly place, so all the water flows downhill to the drains. As I was walking from one dry spot to the other, my shoes started slipping and sliding. BUT, I was determined to make it to campus. After walking & stopping about 4 times, I stopped under a place where there was another girl standing. I started talking to her and was very thankful that my prayers were answered because the rain didn't stop me from meeting people. I finally made it to campus about an hour later (from the time I left my apartment). Keep in mind, it normally only takes us 10 minutes to get to campus. Even though it had stopped raining, it was very hard for me to walk at this point because the ground was very slippery (of course the flip flops didn't help the situation out). I hung out on campus for a while and then decided to go get some lunch. I was having some major problems walking down the street because it was soo slippery. I almost fell about 6 times walking 4 blocks down the street! It was embarrassing and I thought to myself, "oh no, I bet I look like I am dancing like a bird!" Of course, I busted out laughing walking right by myself. {If you didn't read the post from yesterday, then you might not understand....so read that post to have some context!} I figured I should laugh about the situation because my grandma always told me, "when you have lemons, make lemonade!" The rain could have easily made me frustrated (especially since I couldn't walk), but I decided to try and keep a positive attitude about the situation, so I laughed at myself! Haha : ) The rain did eventually stop and I was able to meet some people through it all.

This evening, I had my hip hop dance class again. This class has been a great way for me to meet and get to know other girls on my campus! It was very fun--as usual. After my class, Marcus, Brandon, & I went out to dinner together and hung out for a while. It is always encouraging for us to hang out together to relax and talk about our days!

Well I think that is all for today--I have to go study arabic & practice my new moves! Talk to you again soon : )

XOXO
