Walking to the Jordan River....this is the border of Jordan & Israel. As you can see in the top pic...the ppl sitting on the other side are in Israel with the Israel flag in the background. By the way, when we were about to leave sitting beside the Jordan River a guy from the other side, Israel, says "hey north carolina!" I was like what in the world. He said "what part of NC are you from?" I was like "how in the world did he know I was from NC....did he really pick on my accent (most ppl think I am from Texas! haha)?" But I realized I had on an ECU hoodie. I yelled back, "hey, I'm from Laurinburg, NC, but I went to school in Greenville, NC." He said, "yea, I figured that from your shirt...I live in Raleigh!" What a bizarre & incredible moment--to put my feet in the Jordan(where Jesus was baptized), to be so close to Israel, & to yell across the border to a guy from Raleigh, NC!!!
Also, Ashley asked our tour guide as we were walking up to the Jordan River if anyone has tried to swim across...since it is clearly no more than 10ft across! The tour guide said, "no, because that is the fastest way to heaven!" Fun times :)
